The quality of consumer protection in financial services in Croatia has improved in recent years. In particular, the approval of the 2007 Consumer Protection Act and Credit Institutions Act incorporated many of the EU Directives related to financial consumer protection. In addition, the National Council on Consumer Protection was established in 2007 to advise the Government on its national strategy for consumer protection in the coming years. The National Council already made some preparations in order to make National Strategy for Consumer Protection for the period 2009-2012 in order to strengthen consumer protection in financial services and financial literacy. Within this Strategy will be a special section for activities regarding financial education and literacy.
